When I’m not out shooting or back in my studio processing and printing images, my next favorite thing about photography is sharing my enthusiasm, knowledge and experiences in the classes and workshops I teach. For me, photography learning never ends and that’s one of the most enjoyable things about photography. If we don’t constantly hone our “craft,” our skills and our vision, we grow stale. Lightroom 6 Overview

This seminar is an overview of Lightroom’s 7 modules, with emphasis on the Library, Develop and Print modules. This is a demonstration and presentation, rather than a hands-on workshop. (If you want a comprehensive, hands-on, 3-day LR workshop, see “Lightroom Intensive” below.) After attending LR Overview, you will have a thorough understanding of Lightroom’s features and capabilities and be in a better position to decide whether Lightroom is an appropriate digital asset management tool and a raw image processing tool for your purposes. Printing the Fine Art Print

In this age of the internet and smart phones, the darkroom has all but disappeared and fewer and fewer prints are being made. I don’t believe the true beauty of the photograph can be seen until a quality print is made. This mini-workshop will help users get the most out of their digital printers and printing materials. Matting and Framing

You’ve taken your award winning photograph, spent hours processing it to your total satisfaction and now it’s time to take it to the framer or for you to mat and frame your masterpiece yourself. In this workshop you’ll learn how to mat and frame, but also about the materials (mat board, frames, glass, backing, etc.) used in framing and matting photographs and the sources and costs of these materials. If you’ve been using LR, but not taking full advantage of all of its power, you will gain a greater in-depth knowledge of LR and learn many of the short-cuts and tricks that will enable you to become a power-user of this amazing program. Photoshop – Adjustment Layers, Curves and Masks

Lightroom 5 Import and Develop

The two most used LR capabilities are the “Import” and “Develop” functions. “Importing” brings information about your images into LR’s catalog, and “Develop” is the incredibly powerful image editing module. This small, hands-on workshop is for the LR user who would like to be able to better edit their images using the full capabilities of LR. There are many advanced features of the Develop module that can make your average image into an outstanding photograph. Panoramas – From Shooting to Processing

For many subjects that we shoot, the panoramic format adds a degree of realism and impact. Panoramas require a different way of seeing, a different approach to composition, specific shooting and camera setup techniques and software knowledge to “stitch” together the multiple images that will ultimately make up your composite photograph. This workshop will be a combination of classroom instruction, in-the-field shooting and then returning to the classroom for instruction on stitching and image processing.
